With his strong foundation in exercise science and program design, Scott specializes in applying the latest advances in both conditioning and post-rehabilitation to help his clients achieve their goals.
He strongly believes that training programs should be designed to meet the functional demands of the specific environment the client must ultimately face. For some, facing that environment may require greater strength, stability and power for sport. For others, the goal may be to simply get through the game of life with greater ease and efficiency. For those whose goals are primarily aesthetic, his experience has shown that "form follows function." If you train to improve function and performance, you will look and feel better than you ever have.

Menlo Park Master Trainer Scott Marion has been working as a personal trainer for over 10 years. The Bay Area native first became interested in exercise science while in college at San Jose State University.
“I competed as a distance runner and periodically my desire to train and reach my potential exceeded the capacity of my body to absorb all I was putting it through. So, I would overtrain, then get sick or injured. It was very frustrating. During the downtime, I got interested in exercise physiology. Just to improve my own performance, really. But as I got deeper into it, it was really fascinating!”
Scott’s varied interests led him to study not just Human Performance, but also Film and Mass Communications throughout college. He continued this dual career path after graduation, working full-time as a magazine editor while coaching runners on the side. It wasn’t long before Scott decided being a personal trainer was the more fulfilling path to take.
“I was won over by the positive, healthy, and fun work environment. It really is a privilege to be in a profession that allows you to be a catalyst for positive change in people’s lives.”
Scott now finds particular reward in helping clients achieve core stability after back pain.
“As someone who has come back from a back injury myself, I know how frustrating it can be. There are so many conflicting perspectives about even the definition of ‘core stability’ in the fields of rehabilitation and performance training, that it can be very difficult for people to know what to do.”
“What I do is sort through it all and find the points where these different perspectives intersect. It can be challenging, but it is very satisfying and a lot of fun to help guide a client step by step on the path from pain to performance.”
