The Founder of AXIS Performance Center describes the details and inspiration behind the AXIS methodology.
After a career-ending knee injury while on a football scholarship at the University of Utah, I became the assistant strength coach for the following three years. In my position, I helped train all the schools Division One athletes utilizing the latest sports science techniques and research. We wanted to optimize each athletes potential by creating a multi-disciplined scientific approach utilizing specific strength, power, speed, agility, endurance, balance and flexibility building techniques. Our goal was to use these techniques to transform a young athlete into a world-class performer at the collegiate level and prepare him or her for the world beyond college.

Because of my injury, I was fortunate to engage in the other sides of personal training and rehabilitation. I worked directly with some of the top athletic trainers, physical therapists and orthopedic surgeons in the industry. I soon realized it is imperative for everyone, not just athletes, to have joint integrity, stability and mobility throughout the kinetic chain to be as healthy as possible. It's also imperative that, in any fitness program, you must integrate a systematic approach, beginning with something I call "prehabiliation," in
order to create a strong body foundation that supports the physiological demands put on the body on a daily basis. We took the same approach in founding AXIS Performance Center.
We realized that athletes have their specific season, but with the added luxury of an off-season. However, executives, parents and those in the "real world" work 24/7, while not receiving an off-season to rest, recuperate and restore the body. Understanding this demand, we took the same scientific and practical approach used on athletes and made it available to our clients.
In today's competitive, non-stop life, we must take an eclectic/holistic approach in building the wellness of the body, mind and spirit. At AXIS, we hired the highest caliber trainers and therapists in a variety of fields (athletic training, physical therapy, strength coaching, personal training, massage therapy) in order to provide the individual results a client strives for. In addition, we've made sure to provide our staff with monthly continuing education opportunities, featuring world-renowned educators, to ensure our trainers are delivering the most recent trends and techniques in your fitness program so you can be the best you can be.
